In the kit Smartphone based data logger there are several usages of smart phones. Apart from normal voice calling, they provide internet connectivity, social connectivity, and Bluetooth connectivity with other devices and many more. Here we have used the Android based Smartphone to read data from different sensors like temperature sensor and humidity sensor. The sensors are connected with a microcontroller having Bluetooth. The sensor values are read by the microcontroller and displayed on the LCD connected with it. These values are also forwarded to the Smartphone via Bluetooth.
In the kit Smartphone based data logger the sensors are connected with the microcontroller via one wire protocol. The microcontroller keeps fetching the values of temperature and humidity from the sensors and displays on the LCD. The LCD is dot matrix type of dimension 16×2. A Bluetooth module is also there connected with the microcontroller which works on SPP profile. Hence all the data sent over is serial data over UART port of the microcontroller. The Smartphone can have any application which could detect the Bluetooth and read data over SPP port of the Bluetooth.
